Police has arrested four girls for allegedly aiding a criminal gang to terrorise areas of Busabala outside Kampala.
Katwe DPC Mission Samuel says they were arrested on Friday with 58 goons, all members of a criminal gang called ‘Kifeesi’.
Last evening, opposition leader Kizza Besigye appeared on NBS television where he alleged that the notorious thieves were part of the police.
“Many of these people that police is roughing up are the very ones that are paying taxes that pay their salaries,” he said.
“The real hooligans are not my supporters. The real hooligans are in suits and holding big offices.”
According to Besigye, driving a boda boda near his vehicle is now a crime.
“People coming out to wave at me is a crime. Police has lost it.”
He said sometimes, he wishes he could just stay home in Kasangati instead of coming to town to watch people being brutalised.
“The Kifeesi is part of the police and its intention is to masquerade as being part of the opposition and rob people.”
He said opposition will ensure that nobody infiltrates them with those Kifeesi goons.
“We are planning a peaceful demo on May 5. Police is being used to brutalise the opposition and rent support for the ruling regime.”
“The regime is demonizing any demonstration. They are saying we want to cause violence yet its police seen brutalising peaceful people.”
He said the people of Uganda are in crisis and the reason why police still brutalises people is because they are saying NO.
