President Uhuru Kenyatta has disbanded his Communication Unit (PSCU) with immediate effect over concerns of unstructured communication and a series of gaffes.
Kenyan media [Citizen and The Star] quote a memo signed by the deputy Head of Public Service Nzioka Waita, in which Kenyatta sacked four directors who were in charge of various departments in the unit.
They sacked directors are; Munyori Buku, who was the Senior Director Public Communications, Dennis Itumbi who was in charge of the Digital and Diaspora Communications Director, Eric Ng’eno, who headed the Messaging docket at the Presidency and James Kinyua, who handled the Branding and Events Directorate in the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit(PSCU).
Manoah Esipisu, was retained as the State House spokesperson and head of communication.
Kenya State House is expected to put up a new press team that will provide more organised communication.
