A Kenyan lawyer, Felix Kiprono, is waiting for US President, Barack Obama, to visit Kenya so he can ask his daughter’s hand in marriage.
Kiprono is interested in Malia Obama, who is now sixteen years old.
He claims to have been interested in her for sometime now and ready to marry her anyway given her father’s Kenyan roots.
“I got interested in her in 2008,” Kiprono said, in an interview with The Nairobian newspaper.
President Obama will visit Kenya in July this year.
As a traditional man, Kiprono said he was willing to pay 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats in order to fulfil his dream of marrying the first daughter.
“As a matter of fact, I haven’t dated anyone since and promise to be faithful to her. I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price,” Kiprono told the newspaper.
He denied having interests in Obama’s money by marrying the daughter saying, “My love is real. I am currently drafting a letter to Obama asking him to please have Malia accompany him for this trip.”
“I hope the embassy will pass the letter to him. I will hand it over to the US Ambassador with whom we have interacted several times.”
If my request is granted, Kiprono continued, “I will not resort to the cliche of popping champagne. Instead, I will surprise her with mursik, the traditional Kalenjin sour milk. As an indication that she is my queen, I will tie sinendet, which is a sacred plant, around her head. I will propose to her on a popular hill in Bureti near my father’s land where leaders and warriors are usually crowned. The place is called Kapkatet, which means ‘victory’.”
He is ready to teach the first daughter how to live a simple life; how to milk a cow, cook ugali and prepare mursik like any other Kalenjin woman.
Barack and Michelle Obama have two daughters: Malia Ann (born on July 4, 1998, and Natasha (known as Sasha born on June 10, 2001).
In 2014 Malia and Sasha were named two of “The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014” by Time magazine.
Malia and Sasha attend the private Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., the same school that Chelsea Clinton, Tricia Nixon Cox, and Archibald Roosevelt attended and that the grandchildren of Vice President Joe Biden attend.
The Obama girls began classes there on January 5, 2009.
While in Chicago, both attended the private University of Chicago Laboratory School.
