All yellow fever cards given out by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) are being rejected at Entebbe International airport just days after the country was declared yellow fever free.
According the airport officials, there are so many fake yellow fever cards being used by Ugandans ever since the health ministry stopped KCCA from issuing the cards early this year.
Travellers with KCCA yellow fever cards are being forced to get a yellow fever jab at the airport at a cost of Shs120,000.
The Ministry of Health early this week declared the country yellow fever-free, ending fears that the disease, which broke out in different parts of the country, could spread widely.
The announcement according to Prof Anthony Mbonye, the acting Director General Health Services, followed a successful vaccination campaign in 17 districts surrounding Masaka, Rukungiri and Kalangala.
Prof Mbonye, who was addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre September 6, said there was no evidence of any active yellow fever transmission between June 1 and September 6.
