KCCA wins Azam premier league title

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club is the champion of the Azam Uganda Premier League for the season 2015/16.

It is a historical title for Mike Mutebi who has won the League for the first time as head coach at KCCA FC.

The Yellow brigade ascended on the terraces of Mutessa II stadium with droves of fans who chanted from the time they entered the stadium till the final whistle.

The red eagles fans were also enjoying the moment as the same stadium has been a fortress for them with big teams finding it difficult to walk away with maximum points.

KCCA FC  rallied from behind to force a one all draw with arch-rivals, Express FC on  Tuesday evening.

Express FC took a first half lead through Vincent Kayizzi’s well taken penalty.

KCCA managed to press hard and found the deserved equaliser through enterprising midfielder, Muzamiru Mutyaba.

Elsewhere, Vipers SC-challengers to KCCA FC for the title-before end of business on Tuesday drew 1-1 with Uganda Revenue Authority at Buikwe stadium.

Robert Sentongo put the tax collectors ahead before sharp striker, Erisa Ssekisambu sumoned for National team duty leveled for the ousted  champions.

The result means, KCCA FC now has 56 points, with a four point advantage over Vipers coming into the final  match day on Friday.

A guard of hounor by Sadolin Paints FC awaits KCCA FC on Friday at Nakivubostadium when they will be handed the AUPL title.

In the Jinja derby played at Bugembe stadium, Jinja Municipal Council lost 2-1 to Sadolin Paints.

Allan Oryek and Ronald Lukungu scored for Sadolin Paints to cancel out Richard Wandyaka’s opener for JMC Hippos.

At Kakindu stadium, left back Hakim Magombe and skipper Augustine Nsumba inspired BUL to a 2-0 home victory against already relegated Maroons.

Lweza survived the blushes of relegation with a hard fought 2-1 win against SC Victoria University in a fixture played at the Luzira play grounds.

Simba, Maroons and SCVU have now been relegated to the FUFA Big League.
