Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has accepted to pay all former workers of the defunct Kampala City Council (KCC) who were unfairly dismissed.
Over 1,000 former KCC workers including lawyers, division town clerks, administrative assistants, council agents and enforcement officers, had their series terminated in 2012 following the reorganisation of the authority.
They dragged the minister of Public Service, the KCCA executive director, Ms Jennifer Musisi, the Attorney General (AG) and the secretary Public Service Commission to High Court over forced retirement from Public Service.
According to Daily Monitor, the staff now seek payment of about Shs30 billion.
On Tuesday, High Court Judge Lydia Mugambe said AG and KCCA had agreed to pay their workers.
Justice Mugambe asked the complainants to resolve their disagreements and ensure workers receive all their entitlements and terminal benefits as calculated under the Local Government Act.
