Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] is planning to build the first state of the art Traffic Control Centre (TCC) to manage traffic in Kampala.
The TCC will have high-level security measures such as employee access control, public access control and fire security systems, which are part of the design.
“It will help in the coordination of traffic as well as connecting traffic signals and CCTV cameras in Kampala,” the authority said.
This comes at a time KCCA is celebrating its five years in existence and sharing the achievements made so far.
The authority is already of the search for a consultant or consulting firm to be part of a mega project.
According to KCCA spokesperson, Peter Kaujju, critical among the city administration’s plans over the next five years, is developing neighbourhood plans and construction of 600kms of roads.
Others include; introduction of light rail services in the City, construction of the Bus Rapid Transit System, 100% cover of streetlights in the City, construction of modern hospitals and model schools in each urban division among others.
