Kayunga hospital Medical superintendent, Dr. Francis Kakooza, has been arrested for allegedly defacing NRM candidate, Yoweri Museveni’s campaign posters.
On Thursday, Radio One reported that Dr. Kakooza had blocked NRM mobilizers from pinning Museveni’s posters in the hospital.
Daily Monitor said in its report that following the incident, local NRM leaders in Kayunga district reported a case against Dr Kakooza at Kayunga Police Station.
The charges were filed by the Kayunga NRM publicity secretary, Kizza Mutwalibi.
Dr Kakooza was on Thursday arrested and rushed to Kayunga Police Station.
Kayunga district CID officer Maliserino Mulema told Radio One that Dr. Kakooza was made to record a statement and later on released on police bond.
Dr. Kakooza was charged with defacing posters that were pinned at the health facility by the NRM mobilizers.
The doctor said that the posters were forcefully pinned in the hospital despite a decision by the hospital management not to allow campaign posters in the government health facility.
Although opposed to move, Dr Kakooza denied defacing or removing the posters from the hospital buildings.
