President Yoweri Museveni’s brother Gen Salim Saleh has refused to give up Amama Mbabazi’s security officer Christopher Aine.
Aine is still in Saleh’s custody at his home in Munyonyo, a Kampala suburb, days after his return from Tanzania.
Aine is expected in Jinja Magistrate’s court for assaulting Edgar Nyabong, the Kiira Regional Police Commander.
He also faces trial for taking part in the beating of NRM supporters in Ntungamo district during presidential election campaigns.
Addressing press on Monday, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said Aine told Saleh that his life was in danger.
He wanted to meet police chief General Kale Kayihura and forge a way forward.
However, Saleh decided to ignore Kayihura.
The furious IGP now accuses Saleh of undermining him.
Kayihura has now written to the Attorney General Fred Ruhindi to intervene.
Kayihura put a Shs20m bounty on Aine’s head in December 2015.
