Kayihura nets Kifeesi, to arrest journalists over Besigye

An operation led by Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police in Kampala yesterday netted 15 suspected members of Kifeesi criminal gang.

The suspects, according to URN, were picked up from their hide out in a cave at Agape Christian Center Katwe II parish, in Makindye division.

Agape Christian center belongs to an unidentified woman, who picks up street kids in the guise of helping them.

Kayihura was directed to the cave by residents as he was tracing the routes and hide out of the suspected members of Kifeesi criminal gang.

After the arrest of the criminals, Kayihura turned attention to journalists covering Forum for Democratic Change Defiance campaign activities.

Kayihura accused journalists of promoting the defiance campaign through extension coverage.

He said the director Uganda communications Godfrey Mutabazi has already been notified about media houses that promote violence orchestrated by opposition members.

According to him, the journalists covering FDC weekly prayers are abetting crime and will be held liable for their actions.

Three journalists were yesterday arrested in Kasangati outside Kizza Besigye’s home.

Several others were driven out of FDC head offices along Entebbe road after the arrest of FDC preachers and supporters.

Kayihura also placed Besigye under house arrest till he gives up the defiance campaign.
