The IGP Kale Kayihura who was scheduled to appear before the parliamentary committee today morning has declined to appear and instead decided to send his deputy Okoth Ochola to represent him on allegations of having a tight a delegation to lead in neighbouring Kenya.
The committee chaired by former police spokesperson and MP for Mityana district Hon. Judith Nabakooba was set to question the IGP and his fellow officers following the continued police brutality in the country.
However some of the Members on the committee who were willing to grill the IGP were forced asked police representatives before the committee to provide them with proof including travel documents that indeed the Kayihura had travelled to Kenya.
This request was blocked by the committee chairperson Judith Nabakooba saying its beyond what the officers had come for.
Hon Beatrice Anywar showed concern to the committee that this was not the first time the Gen Kayihura was declining to present himself before Parliament.
Lastly during the meeting, the Deputy IGP Ochola and his team were asked to leave the room together with the media.
