Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, has been reappointed the Public Relations Officer and caretaker.
“AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi the newly appointed PRO office caretaker,” police has just tweeted on its official handle.
The position was being held by Fred Enanga deputised by Polly Namaye.
As we learnt, Enanga, Namaye and Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango have all been sent away for further training.
In March, Kaweesi was reappointed Kampala Metropolitan Zonal Police Commander.
This came a year after he was transferred to head the Human Resource Department.
Kaweesi has been handling operations that have seen opposition leader Kizza Besigye arrested several times and kept at his home in Kasangati under house arrest.
Kaweesi is also the man behind the continuous arrests of journalists reporting from Besigye’s home.
Kaweesi once served as Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander before being appointed AIGP Director of operations.
From Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Kaweesi will now serve as the police spokesperson.
