The High court in Kampala has summoned Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama to respond to allegations that he forged his academic papers to join parliament, six months after he was sworn in as a legislator.
The summons arise from a case file by a one Habib Buwembo, an activist and member of the Jobless Youth Brotherhood in which he claims that the comedian turned politician lacks the minimum academic qualifications to be a member of parliament and that he failed his Uganda Certificate of Education.
However, Lubwana has scoffed off the summons saying it is the work of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party which is trying to bring him down.
“I know it’s the FDC party trying to bring me down but I know I will overcome all these. Why have they have waited for this long! I don’t have time for them. Let them go to court if they want but. I haven’t got the court summons yet but I’ll respond accordingly,” he said.
Lubwama also scoffed at Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) allegations that he lacks the necessary academic qualifications required for him to be in parliament.
Lubwama said he is willing to face anyone challenging his seat.
