Army Brig Kasirye Ggwanga is confident FDC leader, Kizza Besigye, can never be president of Uganda.
Besigye who is currently under house arrest has so far lost four sets of elections in a row [2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016] all to incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.
Kasirye was recently in the news after being hospitalised with some reports even pronouncing him dead.
He is currently at his Makindye home recovering from the illness.
In a chit-chat with Pan-African Pyramid host, Andrew Irumba, Kasirye asserted that Besigye “can never be president of Uganda when I’m still alive, neither can Mbabazi.”
According to him, the former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi, who garnered 1% of the total vote can do better as a farmer.
He said its those who don’t know the history of Uganda that can go around preaching “defiance”.
“Ugandans want a programme, not your crap.”
He also spoke on the numerous ministers who were dropped by the electorates in their constituencies during the parliamentary elections.
“When Kahinda Otafiire failed in the NRM primaries, I advised him not to stand as an independent, because the president would still appoint him a minister of some ministry, but now he has even lost even the little remaining credibility the president had in him.”
Otafiire was defeated twice by Capt Kahonda Donosio to clinch the Ruhinda county seat in Mitooma district.
Kasirye advised Otafiire, Amama, Besigye, and minister Henry Kajura [who also lost] to join him in an agricultural mechanisation programme.
“I’m going to head the project, they are good farmers. And I’m not going to buy this crap of Museveni’s 18 million hoes project.”
The president promised and even bought the 18 million hoes for farmers across the country.
Kasirye, on the other hand, says those hoes can only help with weeding, not digging.
“That generation of hoes belongs to the past. You see Museveni is a cattle farmer (muraaro) we have to help him.”
“The only little chance they had was when I got sick. I have spent 50 years without falling sick. So, I don’t know why God did it during campaigns,” Kasirye narrated.
“A very little boy (Doctor) of about 30 years while in hospital came with a report and stood by my bed and said; “Brig. We are going to discharge you, but…try to light even a 1/4 of a cigarette into your lungs, or a 1/4 of anything alcoholic, you are dead! You must not take anything from today!! I looked at the idiot in disbelieve!”
Kasirye said he, however, continues to live as per their instructions (no alcohol/cigarettes) although life is too hard for him.
He also shared plans of travelling to US for a specialized check-up in his lungs to ascertain the general working condition of his system.
“As we talk now my kids have already secured my travel to US for further check-up. You know I’m a dual citizen of US and Uganda having studied in the most prestigious military army academy [Leavenworth Kansas, United States].
