Kasese unrest, 14 police officers, 41 attackers killed

The number of police officers killed in the unrest in Kasese has now reached fourteen.

According to the report released by the Uganda police spokesperson Afande Andrew Felix Kaweesi indicates that, 14 police officers and 41 Rwenzori attackers killed bringing the number to 55 deaths.

Afande Kaweesi also says that 2 UPDF soldiers were injured and the security operatives in the area has so far arrested 15 key ring leaders.

Its also confirmed that One police vehicle was burnt at a police post but we managed to reorganize our resources.

The unrest in Kasese town sparked off on Saturday morning when the town was rocked with gun shots as national army Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and police pursued royal guards attached to Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu.

This came barely two days after eight people were shot dead by the UPDF and police and four others arrested in neighboring Kabarole district.
