The minister for Kampala Hon. Betty Olive Kamya is to set up a committee that will investigate the currently running wrangles in public markets in the city.
Kamya said that it has been revealed that the biggest challenges a raise because of tenders, landownership and leadership of the markets.
“Am going to use my powers to set up this committee because all these misunderstandings need to end.”
According to the details, the minister has already requisitioned 300 million to facilitate the activities of the committee and its work will commence as soon as the money is approved.
In addition, Betty Kamya also called upon all the street venders to vacate the streets emphasizing that the city can’t develop with people selling goods in the middle of the road.
However in reply to the argument, Lord mayor Elias Lukwago asked the officials not to use excessive powers in getting the vanders of the streets since its through that small business on the street that sustains them.
