Former Ethics and Integrity minister Miria Matembe has lashed at Kampala minister Beti Kamya for defecting to the ruling NRM party specifically to serve her own selfish interests.
Matembe was last evening appearing on NBS TV’s new political programme dubbed #NBSFrontline hosted by Charles Odongtho.
Matembe said she has never been in NRM or any political party.
“I did not cross from one party to another because I didn’t belong to any.” Matembe said when she was in NRM broad based government, Kamya was against it because “she was seeing things better than me”.
“When she left FDC, people started telling me that Kamya is an NRM agent. I tried to defend her.”
While in TDA as an elder, people were asking Matembe to ‘forget Kamya’.
“Now me and Betty Kamya it is sealed. No principle,” Matembe said wondering why they were asking her to discuss Kamya “who has no principles”.
“I don’t discuss people who run here and there to satisfy their interest. NRM is not a broad based political party; it is a different entity that Matembe joined in 2006.”
In her defence, Kamya who was present on the same programme said politics is very dynamic.
“If you are fixed in one position, you stay there forever,” Kamya said.
According to her people, grow.
“In the past, I was a staunch Musevenist, but time reached and we disagreed.”
