President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Michael Werikhe Kafabusa as minister of State for Industry.
His appointment is contained in a letter to the speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga.
In the letter, President Museveni asks Kadaga to confirm the appointed.
Werikhe replaces James Mutende who died recently leaving the position vacant.
Werikhe served as the State Minister for Housing in the Ugandan Cabinet, from June 2006 until May 2011.
In the Cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Sam Engola.
He also serves as the elected Member of Parliament representing “Bungokho County South”, Mbale District, continuously since 1996.
He was re-elected to the same position during the 2011 national elections, and is the incumbent Member of Parliament.
