James Kaberuka and Karungi Elizabeth have been declared as winners of NRM flag bearers for Kanungu district.
In the nullified October NRM primaries, Jackline Kyatuheire had won the Kinkiizi West MP seat replacing Amama Mbabazi.
Kaberuka was leading Kyatuheire before the army stormed a tallying centre and beat up candidates and their agents.
Kyatuheire was running against Frank Twinomugabe (FDC), Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju, whom Mbabazi trounced in 2011; James Ruggi Kaberuka, the Kihiihi town council district councilor; Julius Mbabazi, the proprietor of Kihiihi Progressive primary school; James Kamwesiga, a former personal political assistant to Mbabazi and Dixon Ampumuza who formerly worked with New Vision.
According to insiders at the NRM electoral commission offices in Kampala, Kaberuka is now the new Kinkiizi West MP seat flag bearer.
Karungi, the incumbent Kanungu district woman Member of Parliament had also been rigged.
She now resumes her seat following the arrest and detention of Kanungu NRM registrar, John Byaruhanga.
Kanungu district chairperson, Josephine Kasya, was too among those rigged out but returns to her seat.
Rugaju goes independent
We have also learnt that Gad Rugaju, one of the contenders has resolved to run as an Independent candidate in the 2016 general elections.
He is set to be nominated on Thursday.
