Ugandan International Court of Justice judge Julia Sebutinde has been installed as the new Muteesa I Royal University chancellor.
The ceremony took place at the Masaka based university on Wednesday and was presided over by Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi II.
Mutebi in October 2015 appointed Sebutinde the new Chancellor of Buganda Kingdom’s Mutesa I Royal University, succeeding him.
The Kabaka has now officially handed over the Chancellorship to Sebutinde who he installed hence with.
Mutebi was installed chancellor on April 15, 2011 to head the kingdom owned university.
Justice Sebutinde currently works with the UN International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague, Netherlands.
A former Judge of the High Court of Uganda, in 2005, Sebutinde was appointed Presiding Judge in the trial of Charles Taylor, former President of Liberia.
She also worked at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London and at the Ministry of Justice of Namibia.
