Judicial officials charged with fraud


Two Judicial Service Commission (JSC) officials have been charged with uttering false documents and forgery contrary to sections of the Penal Code Act.

Pastor Kiiza, an office supervisor and Moses Waiswa, an internal auditor were yesterday charged before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court.

When they appeared before the Chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani who read the charges, both denied committing the offences.

They were also charged with conspiracy to commit the offence which they denied before applying for bail and told to return to court on May 11 for further hearing.

They were released on cash bail of Shs1m each upon presenting credible sureties who were bonded at Shs10m not cash.

State claims that Kiiza on June 19,2015  at the JSC located on Farmers’ House in Kampala being employed as store Keeper with intent to defraud forged a goods received note  serial no. 00269 showing that his employer (JSC)  had received 444 copies of citizens hand books  whereas not.

It is further asserted that Kiiza still on the same date and place he knowingly and fraudulently uttered the said  false a goods received note to one Aminah Nabulime the procurement officer and Kivumbi Katogole the accounting officer  to enable process payment for the purported delivery of the  444 copies of citizens hand books.
