The “Jazz & Beats” artists, percussionists and instrumentalists show scheduled for Friday Golf Course hotel in Kampala has been called off.
According to the latest development, Monica Aketch, the Managing Director of Afrost Events, failed to pay service providers involved in the process of hosting the artistes.
Worse, Aketch decided to pocket the money that was meant to settle the musicians’ air tickets.
The artistes who include; Erick Smith (Norway), Joseph Hellon (Kenya), Brian Mugenyi (Uganda) and Banana Zoro (TZ), are currently on their grand Africa tour.
Eric who is leading the group has performed in North Africa and South Africa.
They were supposed to perform in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania as part of their East African tour.
At the moment, the Tanzania show is cancelled.
Monica is being held at Tanzania airport for failing to pay air tickets for artistes.
In Uganda, tickets were already on sale at Shs200,000 for Very Important Persons [VIP] and Shs100,000 for ordinary tickets.
Twenty percent of the proceedings from the concert were supposed to be donated to the Starkey Foundation to provide hearing aids to the needy children in East Africa.
