Irish to train pilots at Soroti Flying school


President Museveni met a delegation from Irish Aviation Authority to brief him about their interest to work with Uganda at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi on Wednesday.

The group led by the Honorary Consul of Uganda to Ireland, H.E Sylvia Katete Gavigan briefed the President on their plans to support Uganda in training Pilots and instructors at Soroti Flying School.

They pledged to support in pilot inspection by training pilot inspectors and engineer inspectors and help in reviving a national carrier/Airline, among others.



 Museveni said the aviation industry in Uganda has a lot of potential to grow.

”Ugandans travel a lot. We have a big diaspora, I don’t see how we wouldn’t make profit in airlines. We lose about $420 Million per year to other airlines,” he added.

President Museveni welcomed the interest by Ireland to work with Uganda in training pilots and instructors at Soroti Flying School.
