Police invaded the official residence of Kizza Besigye and arrested some of the Women In Command (WIC) private security members.
The Women In Command brigade, strictly composed of FDC female volunteers was set up to provide private security protection at the residence of Besigye.
The women protection unit was established secure the official residence and also limit intrusion on the property of Besigye.
They are purely a defensive unit that has a mandate of ensuring proper handling and screening of Kizza Besigye’s visitors and recording the guest particulars, according to Besigye’s team.
They are not, in anyway, mandated to carry offensive weapons.
The women yesterday declared Besigye’s home a no police fly zone and barricaded roads.
Don in black T-shirts, they took security at Besigye’s home just after he returned from abroad.
