Police on Thursday rescued Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) senior officials from being lynched by an angry mob in Masaka town.
FDC secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi, party secretary for mobilization Ingrid Turinawe, among others snior officials survived being lynched by angry taxi operators in Masaka after police intervened.
The incident happened after Ingrid Turinawe’s car knocked down one of the taxi drivers in town.
The taxi operators stormed Vienna Golden hotel located in Masaka town where the officials had camped demanding that Turinawe surrenders her vehicle Reg. No. UAY 786 U which had knocked their colleague.
However, police came to their rescue and dispersed the angry mob.
The officials were in town ahead of the Friday (today’s) visit by former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye who is expected to meet local leaders in the district.
