Ingrid, Bihande beaten in FDC primaries

Embattled Bukonzo East Member of Parliament, Yokasi Bihande has lost the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party primaries.

Bihande lost to Harold Tony Muhindo, after he got 101 votes.

Muhindo garnered 174 votes, while Amon Philly Kahungu came second with 110 votes.

The FDC electoral commissioner in Kasese, Gad Mbayahi declared Muhindo the FDC flag bearer for the Bukonzo East MP seat.

Bihande, who has been in parliament since 2006, conceded defeat and drove to Muhindo’s home in Kyalhumba sub-county to congratulate him.

Ingrid too lost in Rukungiri

FDC secretary for mobilisation, Ingrid Turinawe was also on Monday defeated in the party primaries in Rukungiri District.

Turinawe lost to the incumbent Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Kaginda in the race for the party flag bearer in the next year’s election.

Kaginda polled 135 votes while Turinawe polled 58 votes.

Turinawe had also lost to Kaginda in FDC primaries in 2010.

He again faces off with Elias Rutahigwa whom he defeated in FDC primaries in 2010.

Meanwhile, former People’s Redemption Army suspect, Robert Darious Tweyambe, also lost to a one Makuru.

Other posts

In the contest for FDC flag bearer, Rukungiri LC5 chair Mr Martin Byomuhangi, beat Capt Gerome Ndiho.

He polled 93 votes while Capt Ndiho polled 15 votes.

Fred Turyamuhweza was unopposed for Rujumbura Constituency.

Betty Muzanira was unopposed too for the district Woman MP seat FDC flag bearer.
