Ugandan songbird Iryn Namubiru, also known as Irene Namubiru, is not only sexy but also aware of this fact.
Namubiru was pressured to confess it last Friday Phyllis who hosts the “Super Star Friday” on KFM radio alongside Freddie and DJ Jerry.
Phyllis who demanded to know why she cuts sexy poses while shooting her music videos cornered Namubiru on whether this was her unique style.
“Do you consider yourself sexy?” Phyllis insisted as Freddie rocked with uncontrollable laughter.
Namubiru at first manoeuvred trying to dodge the question but the inquirer was determined.
“What do you mean sexy?” she chirped in at last, finally admitting, “Even my former husband knows it [that am sexy]”.
Her looks aside, Namubiru was concerned about Ugandans who have made it a point to illegally make money off her work.
“It is hard work to compose songs and make those videos,” she told Freddie who had asked her opinion on the copyright law.
“Even if I put in Shs30,000 to make a video, people shouldn’t download it for free. They are getting money off my back.”
The singer sounded a stern warning to those who upload her videos on YouTube claiming to be promoting her.
“Why wait for me to invest a lot of money in the video and then claim to be promoting me?”
She wants the copyright law enforced right away so her property can be protected.
On fights with singer Catherine Kusasira, Namubiru said that was “kids talk”.
Namubiru, one of Uganda’s finest female performing artistes, is a resident of Paris, France but she spends some of her time in Kampala coordinating her musical exploits.
She confesses her career is hectic but “I chose that life”.
“It is not easy, it’s not the best life I would like, but I have to live it.”
Phyllis further inquired whether Namubiru was aware that she is always “cheeky” on set when shooting videos.
The singer replied: “Yeah. I like being free.”
On how she gets hot guys to feature in videos, Namubiru said her videographers bring the guys.
“I never look for them.”
She also confessed having not composed one of the hottest current love songs “Kachumbali” but acknowledged she was indeed “ofcourse in love”.
