Oxfam boss Winnie Byanyima has trashed as false a malicious report claiming that she is dead.
It was British media that started the disturbing rumour.
” Uganda’s Forum for Democratic Change leader, Dr. Kizza Besigye has lost his wife Winnie Byanyima in London,” Metro news reported.
According to the Mirror, Winnie Byanyima died in the early hours of Sunday morning after being rushed to the Westminster Hospital for cardiac arrest.
“She was 57 and had a son with the opposition leader,” the Mirror wrote.
The report was shortly carried by DW TV in equal vigour.
Using her Twitter handle, Winnie cynically laughed off the rumour.
“… as Mark Twain said, news of my death-greatly exaggerated!” she wrote.
She added:” Im in Oxford eating cassava & gnut.”
