The US president elect Donald Trump has denied reports that he would arrest Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni if he became president.
Shortly after Trump was nominated for the US presidential race in the Republican Party ticket, there were reports on social media that he would arrest African dictators and long serving leaders like Museveni and his Zimbabwean counterpart, Robert Mugabe.
However, in a statement issued to the media the spokesperson of the US embassy in Uganda, Christopher Brown said the story about the arrest was false and should not even be taken serious.
Brown, further noted that Trump’s team had already addressed and cleared the ‘falsehood’.
President Museveni who Thursday returned home from Addis Ababa congratulated Trump saying he looks forward to working with him like he has been with the previous US leaders.
US and Uganda are allies in regional security in the fight against Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels.
