Former ethics and integrity minister Hon. Maria Matembe has criticised government for robing and stealing poor Ugandans.
In what she branded as ‘broad day theft’, Matembe further said that government rewards petty goods and gifts in turn every time they are on spot.
While appearing on NBS TV Frontline programme, Matembe sighted the issue of awarding medals to former legislators as a way of trying to appease them and hide the evil it had done.
She however concluded that she will not pick the copper medal since she does not see any value of awarding people after robbing them.
“I cannot be badly robbed and then easily appeased by a copper medal. I will not pick that parliamentary medal” said Matembe.
Government will be awarding about 1400 former legislators since independence for fostering democracy in the country where Hon. Maria Matembe is among those to be a warded.
