The High Court in Kampala has ordered Kigo prison officials where former DPC Kampala Central Police Station Aaron Baguma was remanded over murder to produce him in court for hearing of his bail application.
This came just hours after Buganda Road Court committed Baguma to High Court to stand trial over the murder of Kampala City business woman Betty Katusabe.
Buganda court had no jurisdiction to hear Baguma’s capital offence.
Hearing of his case in the High Court would be fixed on notice before remanding him to Kigo Government prisons.
Baguma’s charges are in relation to the alleged killing of businesswoman Betty Katusabe at Pine car bond in Kampala on October 21, 2015.
Shortly after Baguma was remanded, relatives of Katusabe petitioned the Director of Public Prosecution asking him not to prosecute Baguma whom they said had been “very helpful in the case” and ensuring that their deceased daughter gets justice.
According to them, prosecuting Baguma would stall the case and therefore their daughter might not get the justice that she deserves.
