President Museveni and Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF yesterday commissioned 186 officers who have completed a Young Officers Course at the Oliver Tambo School of Leadership, Kaweweta in Nakaseke district.
The Young Officers Course is done by serving combatants who are entrusted with leadership responsibilities at various levels in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
The Oliver Tambo School of Leadership is one of the eleven military schools in Uganda.
It was officially commissioned in 2011 by the South African President Jacob Zuma.
Oliver Reginald Tambo was a South African anti-apartheid politician and revolutionary who served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1967 to 1991.
The school used to be a refugee camp for hundreds of South African dissidents and exiles and hosted a military training camp for the rebel wing of the ANC in Kaweweta.
It was then upgraded into a school of leadership for senior police, prisons and military personnel.
