This afternoon the FDC party President Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has addressed a press conference in Jinja where he clearly pledged support for the people of Kasese.
Muntu strongly condemned the nasty happenings in Kasese as heartless and uncalled for.
“If this regime leader can treat a leader of over a million people like this, what will happen to the common man?”. Gen. Muntu wondered.
He has warned that ” today it is facing a cultural leader, next may be any other leader like religious leaders” pulling the public on a left that it is not about the Rwenzori people only.
Muntu also called upon powers and civil society organizations and other stakeholders to ensure that there is a public inquiry into what happened and what is still happening in the area since the country can not depend on the government side alone.
Gen Muntu further passed his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the bereaved.
“We stand with the people of Kasese in these difficult moments.” Gen. Muntu said.
He however concluded warning the regime to be cautious and be careful while using force” The more you use force the more desperate the population becomes, those in charge must take note.”
Yesterday Sunday about 60 people were killed in Kasese district-Western Uganda following the clashes between Police and the royal guards of Rwenzururu Kingdom.
