South Sudan rebel General Peter Gatdet Yak has reached out to the entire Nuer Community, officers and soldiers in uniform especially those who sacrificed their lives to save lives of Nuers in juba.
He reminded them that the peace agreement signed between President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar will trigger the worst crisis in South Sudan “which is in fact, happening now in Juba”.
“I am against dictatorship and tribal government, which target the certain ethnic groups from sixty five (65) tribes of South Sudan,” he said in a statement extended to Insider.
“We must leave our individual and personal difference and solve the Nuer problem, because what is happening is not Dr. Riek Machar’s problem, rather an entire Nuer community problem.”
He urged all the Nuer youth to act immediately and “take up arms to rescue their suffering families and beloved ones in UNMISS camps”.
“I, General Peter Gatdet Yak here by reaffirm my commitment to support the Nuer and sided with my community and stand against any threat of Nuer existence to the point of cleansing.”
Gadet said he was ready to restore the lost hope and vision of the Nuer community and combat the “tribal government” through military means.
International community and IGAD led peace talk should be blamed because they have fail to bring peace that address the root causes to the conflict and fail to pressure President Salva Kiir to implement the peace agreement signed last year, Gadet concluded.
Fighting has been raging in the capital Juba since last week.
On Monday, Kiir and Machar called for a ceasefire amid threats of sanctions and arms embargo by the international community.
