Activist Frank Gashumba, has advised NRM historical, Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza, to accept that he has been used and dumped by the ruling party.
“Major Gen. Kyaligonza accept it that they used you and others for their selfish ends and trust me they have benefited from their 5 years in Luweero,” Gashumba advised while appearing on WBS TV on Tuesday.
While discussing “Issues At Hand” on the station, Gashumba said every book one reads about what transpired in Luweero during the bush war whos that Kyaligonza was among the most fear-less commanders of the battalions that humiliated the Government soldiers then.
“Surprisingly up to date,” Gashumba pointed out, “some senior officers still believe that President Museveni went to the Bush to liberate Uganda.”
Gashumba went out of his way to say President Museveni “went to the bush specifically to liberate himself and his family and he has done it”.
The vocal activist’s words come at the peak of a political battle raging between the historical and Museveni’s son in-law, Odrek Rwabwogo.
Rwabwogo is challenging Kyaligonza for the NRM vice chairperson Western Uganda, a bold step the old guard blames on the president who has failed to restrain “the lad”.
Speak to NTV over the weekend, the bush war hero demanded that Museveni calls an urgent meeting to discuss his exit from power.
A member of UPDF High Command, Kyaligonza is also ready to block a motion that seeks to curtail Mbabazi from standing as an independent on account that he is still an NRM member.
As for Rwabwogo, Kyaligonza said he nolonger entertains familiarity and swore to slap the youngster once he meets him.
Speaking on CBS radio’s feature programme “the way I see it,” Kyaligonza told Rwabwogo to start with Museveni, his father-in-law who they [historicals] helped bring in power.
“We [historicals] don’t want familiarity because when we came [into power] we didn’t disrespect people”.
Unfortunately, for Kyaligonza, Gashumba says Rwabwogo wants to take over what his father-in-law started.
“Unfortunately Ugandans can’t read between the lines.”
He cited an instance a week back when also Museveni’s other son in law, Edwin Karugire personally returned Museveni’s nomination forms “indirectly they are coming out from behind the curtains to the fore front”.
“Officially they are now building the Rwakitura Kingdom”.
Gashumba boldly states that while Rwabwogo and group control the political part of NRM, first son, Brig Kainerugaba Muhoozi will control the military wing of NRM “that is UPDF”.
“If you think these are true liberators, look at Luweero where this war took place and how it looks like.”
He challenged Ugandans to produce one son of a war veteran occupying a big position in government.
“The message is crystal clear, use them for your own selfish ends then dump them.”
However, the old fighter is not about to go down without fighting back.
“We will compete if that is what it has come to,” Kyaligonza told NTV.
