The Inspector General Kenya Police, Joseph Boinnet, has appointed Shadrack Maithya as the new Garissa County Commander.
Boinnet also appointed Nicholas Maina as the area Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) in a police bosses reshuffle.
Maithya was the OCPD of Thika Police Station.
Maina on the other hand was the Eldoret South OCPD.
On Tuesday, Kenya Interior CS, Jospeh Nkaissery, interdicted two top Garissa administration officers.
Nkaissery suspended North-eastern regional coordinator, Ernest Munyi, and County commissioner Njenga Miiri following the terror attack on Garissa College which claimed 148 lives.
Miiri was Lamu county commissioner at the time of Mpeketoni and Poromoko attacks in 2014, in which more than 60 died in two days.
According to Kenyan media, Nkaissery directed IG Boinett to ban seven other top county officials.
The seven include county AP commander Christopher Muthee, criminal investigations officer Musa Yego, Kenya Police county commander Charles Wambugu and OCPD Benjamin Ong’ombe.
The others are subcounty AP commander John Sawe, ATPU head Nicholas Kimanzi and Garissa police station Deputy OCS Charles Ayoro.
Nkaissery said the suspensions followed a preliminary inquiry by a team from the ministry and the office of the IG on the officers’ conduct and the performance of North-eastern security teams.
Boinett, according to allAfrica, has appointed an investigating team that will work with the office of the ODPP to carry out investigations and take action.
