Residents of Mifunya village Nakaseke District were Tuesday left in shock after a afresh corpse of their colleague was stolen from the grave just hours after her burial.
The Officer in Charge Nakaseke Police Station Dickson Turyatemba said the body of Manjeri Nalubwama aged 100 years was taken after her grave was vandalized barely a day after her burial on Monday.
He said police had launched its investigations and a case file number SD 07/14/06/16 had been opened at Nakaseke police.
According to him, the suspects if arrested would be charged with criminal trespass at a burial site and disturbing the peace of the dead.
This is not the first time such a case is being reported in the Central Uganda district.
Police in Luweero and Nakaseke in 2015 recorded several cases involving grave vandals where remains of the dead were reportedly taken away. Residents suspect traditional healers and witchcraft practitioners as individuals orchestrating grave vandal acts in Luweero and Nakaseke District.
