Former NRM aspirant arrested in road protest

Police in Kanungu district has this morning arrested former National Resistance Movement (NRM) Kinkizi west aspirant Dixon Ampumuza Kagurusi.

He is accsued of organizing a peaceful demonstration against delayed plans of Kanungu road construction.

Ampumuza was among the six people arrested in connection to the protest which was scheduled take place today.

According to Kanungu District Police Commander Joab Wabwire, the protesters were arrested from Kihihi town carrying placards in an unlawful demonstration.

Wabwire said, “the demonstration was illegal and they were disrupting other road users.”
