FDC Youth League spokesperson for the Eastern region has been arrested for demanding that police chief Kale Kayihura resigns from his office.

Augustine Ojobile, also member of the Jobless Brotherhood, was arrested while camping at police headquarters in Naguru on Friday.

“Comrade Ojobile Augustine of the jobless brotherhood/YCC/FDC has been arrested and detained Jinja Road Police,” FDC chapter said in a social media statement.

Ojobile accuses Kayihura of commanding a brutal police force especially while handling Kizza Besigye supporters.

A report by Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC)  has just ranked police as the topmost offender when it comes to human rights abuses in the country.

In his defence recently, Kayihura said he could not resign because it is Besigye who has a problem [he keeps provoking police].

In August last year, Ojobile was arrested with a one Frank Nsamba along Nizam road East in Jinja after carrying  two piglets, painted yellow with tags demanding for Jinja district LCV Chairman Fred Ngobi Gume to resign.

The two were charged at Jinja High Court with four counts of inciting violence, unlawful assembly, disobedience and cruelty to animals before being released on bail.

Ojobile says nothing will deter their campaign to uproot politicians who have over stayed in power and those that continuously abuse the trust of the electorate.

Norman Tumuhimbise, the Jobless Brotherhood National Coordinator says they are empowered to push for better employment opportunities for the youth.
