The Leader of Opposition in Parliament Hon Wafula Oguttu has said homes of many opposition Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] leaders have been placed under a siege by security forces.
“Under siege! Homes of most FDC senior leaders have been surrounded by the security forces,” Oguttu said on Monday morning.
He revealed that others like Lady Ingrid Turinawe were abducted last night and her whereabouts still unknown.
FDC party said in a Twitter message that Ingrid, the head of mobilisation was kidnapped from Gayaza trading centre on Sunday and whisked away.
“We last heard of her when she was surrounded by military police in Gayaza trading centre.”
She is still missing.
“I think they want all of us put out of circulation as part of their swearing in preparations. Cowards,” Oguttu noted.
Oguttu said a police car, seven security officers and two motorcycles blocking his gate.
He revealed that police is effectively putting him under house arrest without any crime committed.
“They deployed at night. I was preparing to go to my office in Parliament early this morning and later attend my last Parliamentary Commission meeting at 10.00am.”
He added: “That is Museveni brand of multiparty democracy. Totally fake.”
Police is still surrounding FDC former presidential candidate Kizza Besigye’s home in Kasangati.
It has been spotted at the home of the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
The party says security has also surrounded the home of their spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda.
“[The] MP’s home is also under police siege this morning. However, this doesn’t stop defiance.”
The party says “Free my vote” activities must continue, calling upon people to gather for a showdown.
“In Kampala, gather at Bugolobi or Kamwokya churches, Nakasero or Kibuli Mosques. Elsewhere, as convenient,” the party tweeted this morning.
