Hajj Noor Jalamba, the former Sembabule District FDC party chairperson has reapplied to rejoin the party.

Jalamba defected to the ruling National Resistance Movement party in 2011 during a campaign rally organized by Sam Kuteesa, the Mawogolo County Member of Parliament.

Kuteesa handed Jalamba a cash envelope at the rally containing Shillings 2 Million in Sembabule town council and promised him an additional 30 Million Shillings.

Immediately after announcing his defection, Jalamba closed the FDC party offices in Sembabule town council paralyzing party activities.
This didn’t go down well with FDC party supporters who attempted to lynch the politicians.

However, with 2016 general elections around the corner, Jalamba has announced his return to the FDC party.

Joseph Ssenzoga, the greater Masaka FDC party General Secretary says they were surprised when Jalamba made a U-turn asking to rejoin the party.

Ssengoza says they are treading cautiously because they no longer trust Jalamba.

According to Ssengoza, they have information that Jalamba made the U-turn after Kuteesa failed to deliver on his promise of to give him the Shillings 30 Million.

Godfrey Kayemba, the greater Masaka FDC Party Chairman says they have referred Jalamba’s case to the party disciplinary committee.

Kayemba says Jalamba’s readmission to the party will be determined by the Party Disciplinary Committee.

He says currently, they cannot say Jalamba is welcome to the party since they lost trust in him.

Kayemba says Jalamba who retired from the army on the rank of 2nd Lieutenant cannot be trusted with the FDC party leadership.

He however, says once Jalamba convinces the Disciplinary Committee and voters they will welcome him back to the party.

Jalamba, the embattled former Sembabule FDC chairman has admitted defecting to NRM for monetary gains.

According to Jalamba, he announced his defection to the ruling party just to cash in on Kuteesa’s money.

Jalamba says although Kuteesa claimed at the rally to have handed him 2 Million Shillings, he only found 1 Million shillings in the envelope.

Jalamba says he has decided to return to FDC because he never left it entirely.

He also says he is bitter that Kuteesa failed to deliver on his promise to give him 30 Million Shillings.

Amir Kiwanda, the current Sembabule district FDC party Secretary says they no longer believe in Jalamba.
