Uganda opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has Monday announced a programme for welcoming Dr Kizza Besigye from his tour of Europe and America.
The welcome plan was unveiled during a press conference at FDC Headquarters by former Leader of Opposition in the 9th Parliament and Bukhooli Central MP Rt. Hon. Philipp Wafula Oguttu.
According to Oguttu, Besigye is expected back home on Thursday 29th September at 8am in the morning.
The party has already written to Uganda Police asking for security and protection.
FDC deputy secretary general Harold Kaija who was present at the conference said Besigye will return aboard a Kenya Airways flight.
He will address the media before proceeding to the party headquarters.
“Dr Besigye has been out for weeks. He addressed UNAA and Chatham House. It’s prudent to welcome him back,” Kaija said.
FDC secretary for mobilisation and organisation Ms Ingrid Turinawe is in charge of all preparations for Besigye’s return.
On Wednesday, FDC National Executive Committee (NEC) will finalise preparatory arrangements for the return of their former presidential candidate.
While in US and UK, Besigye addressed supporters on the rule of law, democracy and justice in Africa using Uganda as a case study.
