A former employee of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is reported dead after being gunned down by unknown gunmen in Kitgum municipality.
Tony Olanya, the former head of Customs and Immigration at URA in the district was killed on Tuesday evening at his home in Ayul A, Pager Division.
He just been appointed as Chairperson Public Account committee in Kitgum Municipality.
According to Kitgum District Police Commander Jackson Baryampika, Olanya was shot five times in the stomach by two men armed with a gun and machete.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kitgum Hospital for post-mortem.
His death comes only a week after gunmen shot dead Grace Ageno, a judicial official and also Kitgum municipality councillor.
In July, gunmen shot dead Christine Omoya and injured her husband Mzee Lamson Omoya, a retired clergy of the Anglican Church.
In June, Alice Akello, a business woman in Kitgum Municipality and Francis Okumu, a health worker in Lamwo district, were also shot by unknown gunmen.
