Elections for new districts set- Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission has spoken out on the final preparations for the Parliamentary and Local Government Councils Elections in newly created districts.


These elections scheduled for 26th and 29th August are for Local Government Council and Parliament respectively.


The districts include Kagadi, Kakumiro, Omoro, Rubanda and Kibaale and the exercise has a sum of 79 candidates that were successfully nominated.


The councillors to be elected include those for special interest groups like female and male councillors for youth, persons with disabilities and older persons.


The voters’ register will be issued over the weekend for different voter individuals to go and ascertain that they will be able to vote.


The first batch of polling material will also be dispatched this weekend to the five districts and the vote will be cast by secret ballot.


The commission has advised all candidates to deploy a maximum of five observers at the polling stations and also asked the participants to keep away from the stations.
