Two Muslims die after attending Eid prayers at Mirembe Mosque, Kitanda Sub-County in Bukomansimbi District.
According to police, the two who are yet to be identified died following a motorcycle accident in front of the mosque.
However, one of the survivors Akram Mbaziira said one of their colleagues was riding fast in a rush to attend prayers in another mosque on Wednesday morning.
He said they were done with prayers at Mirembe Mosque.
District Police Commander Michael Enguma who confirmed the accident attributed its cause to reckless driving.
Muslims in Uganda have joined their brothers and sisters in faith across the globe to celebrate the festival of Eid, which brings an end to the holy month of Ramadhan.
Muslims abstained from food, drink and sexual activity during the holy month.
On Wednesday, Muslims across the country thronged mosques for prayers as part of Eid celebrations.
At Wandegeya Mosque in Kampala where hundreds of Muslims gathered to pray, Imam Fauza Kalule who led the prayers warned Muslims against intermarriages.
According to him, it is haram for a Muslim to marry a non-Muslim.
