Drama ensued in Mwirumali Village, Bumbo Sub County in Manafwa district when mourners smashed a casket in which the body of Bumbo Sub county National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson Julius Wakoba was meant to be buried.
Mourners reportedly rejected the coffin because it was from the ruling NRM under the stewardship of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni as its national chairperson on grounds that it was substandard.
The mourners also accused the party leaders of buying a cheap coffin yet the deceased had loyally served the party for the whole of his life.
They reportedly removed the body from the casket which had NRM symbol and colour.
However, in order to calm the irate mourners, Simon Mulongo, the outgoing Bubulo East legislator bought another coffin in which the deceased was buried.
