DPP wants Chris Mubiru re-arrested

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mike Chibita has filed a case challenging the acquittal and release of former SC Villa manager Christopher Mubiru on sodomy charges.

Through his state attorney Jacqueline Okui, the DPP has filed a notice in the Court of Appeal showing his dissatisfaction with the  High court decision  that quashed Mubiru’s  10 year jail punishment for sodomizing a 17 year old boy; Emmanuel Nyanzi.

“Take notice that the appellant being dissatisfied with the decision of the High Court Land Division, intends to appeal to the Court of Appeal against the whole judgment,” reads a notice filed before the court on April 19.

Last month, High Court Judge Wilson Masalu Musene freed Mubiru  from Luzira prison after faulting  Buganda Road  Chief Magistrates’ Court for convicting and sentencing Mubiru to a harsh punishment in the absence of strong evidence against him.
