The director of public prosecutions Mike Chibita has received three files profiling cases brought against former Amama Mbabazi’s bodyguard Christopher Aine.
Spokesperson of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions Jane Kajuga Okuo told NTV that the initial team of two was expanded to ensure efficiency and a speedy trial.
“We have recalled Aine’s files; they are 3. His colleagues are already facing prosecution in those three cases.”
Okuo says evidence in Aine’s recalled files will be assessed before any decision.
Aine is currently under the protection of Gen Salim Saleh since he suddenly came out of hiding on April 7.
He faces two charges of assaulting Edgar Nyabongo, the regional police commander of Kiira, in Jinja and leading Go Forward supporters who fought with NRM loyalists in Ntungamo last December during the presidential campaigns.
He went missing on December 17 last year triggering a police manhunt before voluntarily surrendering to Gen Saleh.
Since his return, a serious war has erupted between Police and Gen Saleh over his custody.
