The director of Public Prosecution (DPP)
Mike Chibita has petitioned court of appeal challenging the acquital of Sarah Nabikolo, the widow of city businessman Eriya Ssebunya Bugembe, popularly known as Kasiwukira and the subsequent sentence of her cousin and a police officer.
The DPP is challenging part of the decision by justice Wilson Masalu Musene to acquit Nabikolo and convicting Jaden Ashraf, a police constable and Sandra Nakkungu, a sister-in-law to the late Kasiwukira.
Ashraf and Nakkungu were each sentenced to 20 years in prison over the murder of Kasiwukira with the judge saying the two had a common interest to commit the crime.
The DPP’s dissatisfaction with the decision of the judge is contained in the notice of appeal file before the Court of Appeal in Kampala.
