Former Daily Monitor Managing Editor Don Wanyama has promised his boss President Yoweri Museveni effective and timely communication as per the demands of his new office.
Don was yesterday appointed a Senior Press Secretary by the president.
President Museveni da in 2015 appointed Don as his Special Media Assistant in the office of the National Chairman of NRM.
“Yes. It is true President Museveni has appointed me his Senior Press Secretary,” Don confirmed on Wednesday.
He added: “I am grateful for the appointment and look forward to making my modest contribution, as part of the already existing industrious press team.”
Don further promised to ensure “timely and effective communication” for the presidency.
Don will now be shifting from the office of the NRM chairman to State House.
Critics however say the NRM chairman/President should have re-thought the choice of Don as Senior Press Secretary.
According to them, although Don is technical, the presidency needs more mass communicators/influencers on the team since they have a lot to do with perception and image building after elections.
They cite an example of senior journalist Andrew Mwenda who has been facing it rough in the court of public opinion over image issues with people rejecting his content.
“I know Don brings expertise of print Media. Tamale is great as influencer and back dog. Rumours have it that he has been dropped,” remarked a critic.
